ANANDPUR SAHIB

This place is located in PUNJAB, INDIA. Important information:

1. The location : PUNJAB, INDIA (It is not a city, don't expect reebok/adidas or mcdonanlds or pizza. langar is very good in the gurudwara)
2. How to reach : around 100 kms from Chandigarh(250 Km from Delhi, 5-6 hrs bus journey), Janshatabdi from Chandigarh takes around 2 hrs; for buses go to sec-43 in chandigarh, again around 2 hrs journey
3. Best time to go : anytime you chose(not recommended during summers), weather is like a normal north Indian one (rains, summer and winter all peaking according to their time)
4. When did u go: October and once again in September next year
5. What was the group size: 6
6. Recommended activities: go visit Gurudwara, take lunger, and sleep in AC rooms(you will have to ask where it is near the gurudwara, 200 per night, 5bed rooms)
7. Recommended time to be spent: may go to NAINA DEVI (not if you have already gone to some other good mountain situated temples), Must go to bhakhra nangal (around 30 Kms from this place, book some taxi or buses will drop you there)
8. Hotels / Lodging facilities: good, stay in guesthouses being operated by Gurudwara, no need to go outside looking fro any hotel
9. Restaurants/ special eating points: NOTHING TO MENTION
10. Weather: ALREADY MENTIONED EARLIER
11. Local transport: Rickshaw, Auto Rickshaw ( it will not be needed )
12. Local language: PUNJABI (Hindi can do the work to some extent)
13. What you regret: NOTHING
14. Places where you felt cheated:eg. Taxi, Hotels etc. : Eating chhole Kulcha, do bargain with taxi fares
15. Type of sickness faced by group members: NOT ANY SUCH THINGS
16. Any special comments (if you are with girls/family): Do not reach their around midnight, streets seems scary devoid of any safety measures like police
17. Restrictions to be followed: (eg. Alcohol/ Non-vegetarian/ Photography etc.) No ALCOHOL, CIGAR inside gurudwara premises
18. Any special comments: relax and refresh
19. Would you like to revisit the place: to get out of the tension posed by our professors
20. Expenses(what you had per person)  around Rs.200/- if going from Chandigarh and only till gurudwara and naiana devi; around Rs.350/- visiting BHAKHRA NANGAL.
                                                                            If you want to write some academic project go to wikipedia about history and census. It gives feel of some kasba in India. Gurudwara is excellent. Karah Prasad is also very good. You can go their and relax for 1-2 days away from hassle of your daily life. All mobile networks work fine. You can depend upon electricity supply if you are planning to take laptop like things.
